Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee helped secure $75 million for METRO’s North Corridor Light Rail Transit in 2009.
She is working with the Federal Aviation Administration to devise ways of further abating noise from Bush Intercontinental Airport.
She helped secure a $6 million dollar grant to expand our hiking and biking trails, which will help the environment and provide increased recreational outlets for our citizens.
Congresswoman Jackson Lee, as Chairwoman of the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Transportation Security and Infrastructure Protection, authored the legislation to establish a Transportation Security Center of Excellence at Texas Southern University, which will receive $1.2 million over the next four years.
Congresswoman Jackson Lee also brought Transportation Security Administration Administrator Kip Hawley to visit TSU’s Transportation Security Center of Excellence and was able to facilitate a new initiative and partnership between TSA and TSU.
